CHRISTMAS :D

TODAY WAS THE FIRST DAY IT STARTED TO SNOW! :D christmas is coming up very soon and i ant wait :D but we have 2 days of exams to get through first :( but wel be grans its ty :D we only have 1 week left in school :D and fodla are organising a christmas party for the hole ty year :D but i cant say what were planning yet because its a surprise ;) then after the party were going bowling while the rest of the school are doing their exams :D we got christmas cards from schools all over the world and theres a video you can see on the computer of all the classes singing christmas songs and wishing us a happy christmas :) we made a video and cards aswel and sent them to schools all over the world aswel :)

waris diri :)

in religion we watched a movie about waris diri amd her life :) when she was 3 she got female genitile mutilation :/ in her religion , people beleived that if you did not have this done you were dirty and when a woman was married only the husband cold fix it :O waris diris was sewen up to tightly so she was in great pain :/ she was set to marry a man for cattle but she did not want to do this so she ran away to her aunties house and they sent her on a plane to england to family there. but they abandoned her so she was left to live on the streets for years :O but she made a friend and invited her to live with her :) waris diri then got discovered by a famous photographer and she then became a very famous model :) she was a very pretty woman :) then marie claire wanted to write an article on her called 'the day that changed my life'. but it wasnt about the day she became a model , she told the story about when she was 3 and she got female genitile mutilation :O the world was shocked by her story , she was asked to make a very important speech for all women in the world :) she did everything she could to stop this process in africa :D she got beaten but she never stopped :) now she is a very famous ro model in the world and is still continuing her work today :)

sound of music :D

the first showing of the sound of music was last monday and it was sooooo good :D it was the first night though so there were a lot of mistakes which to be honest i thought were hilarious :L some of the mics wernt working so you couldnt here some people talking backstage :L the singers in the play were amazing though but i thought the play was dragged on to long :/ there was so much work involved in the musical , there were costumes , makeup , props , runners , raffle tickets people and directors :O so much work went on all through this year so far on the musical and everyone is very sad for it to be over :( overall though it was a brriliant play and well done to all the cast everyone who was involved :)

ballet :D

2 weeks ago we went to a ballet in belvadere college :) a girl in our school laura was in the ballet so we went to see her :) the ballet was based on the story the nutcracker :D even though you couldnt talk in the ballet you still understood the story just by the girls dancing :) they were amazing :O the girls were so graceful and there costumes were very well done :) after the ballet we went to macdonalds in liffy valley :D it was soooo much fun :D

THE CINEMA :D

On tuesday all of TY went to the cinema to go see an opera called don giovanni that was recorded live in the met opera house in new york :D The opera was really good , it was about a man who had seduced hundreds of woman but dumped them a few days later :O He lead them on and the women thought he loved them but he fled when it got to serious :L The women were left broken hearted :L Don gGovanni killed one of his lovers fathers and he went on the run so no one would find out :O But all thw women and men found out that he was the killer so they set out to kill him :O But then a man in blue haunted don giovanni and he took him to hell :O so all the women got their revenge on him :) It was a reallyyyy long opera thouugh :L Alot of people fell asleep :L Because it was the cinema we got to get popcorn and sweets :D The us up though was the best part because niamh brought her docking station and we blared out the music and we all just went on a massive rave :D It was sooooo much fun :D defonitley one of the best trips ive been on so far :)

work experience :)

Last week i had work experience and i was so excited but really nervous :O I went to my old primary school :D It was really weird seeing all my old teachers again :O i went with alex emma and laragh :) We got to eat in the staffroom which was strange because when we were kids we were never allowed into the staffroom :L Work experience was so much fun , especially with all the girls :D It was like taking a trip down memory lane though :O All the memories just flew back to us :) I helped with junior and senior infant classes :D The teachers i helped were ms o brien and ms brady :) I cleaned the classrooms , set stuff up , filed , painted . did art and helped with irish dancing and the book fair :D I was really sad to go cosa i was going to miss all the children sooooo much :( I really didnt want to go back to school :@ But when i was leaving the teachers gave me a card and a box of chocolates and i gave them a card and flowers :)

religion activity :)

In religion class yesturday mrs L did an activity about third world and fist world countries :) Each student in the class got the name of a person and on a piece of paper we were told all about them :) Mrs L read out quotes and if that quote involved us wed take a big step forward and if it was maybe wed take a small step forward :) Then when all the quotes were called out we could see the wealthy people and the poor people and their was a big gap between third world and first world countries :O It made us reakise the advantages that we have :)

history talk :)

Yesturday the principal from a mixed primary school in celbridge came into our school to talk about the history of celbridge :) I learnt all about the history of celbridge and mr doovan showed us old photographs of celbridge :) It looks completley different :O There use to be a mill and a workhouse and we have a famine graveyard :O Celbridge has developed dramatically :)

musical :D

Our hole school is doing a musical called the sound of music :D TYs and fifth years were asked to put their names forward for directing and different groups like costume , props and setting :D I signed up for the props and set but unfortunaly i didnt get a place :( But i get to go and see the musical in december at the gaa club :D The directors and  the teacher who is organising everything ms.ward , are very stressed with getting people to go to rehersals everyday and get the work done :) Some people are singing in the play and there are also lads in it from salesian college :D IIm soo excited to see it and everyone is working very hard :)

1920s dancing :D

The last activity we do is 1920s dancing :) Its a very fast pace dancing thats a lot like swing dancing :D Fodla were put into groups with 5 or 6 different people and we had to come up with our own dance :D Its soooo much fun and I absolutly love our dance :D At the end of the 8 weeks we're going to pick different moves from each dance and we're going to perform it together as a class on TY night :D

pallates :D

Pallates is another activity that we do :) Its a form of excercise that involves a mumber of different stretches that can be difficult at times but some can be really fun :D iIs really good for your body and get more flexible :D You feel really good about yourself afterwards :)

photography ;)

On a thursday afternoon for 8 weeks we do 3 activities :) Photography is one of them :) We get to bring our camras into school and learn different tecniques and how to use our camras properly :) We take loads of pictures of the class and if you lye on a chair and put the camra underneath you and take a picture it looks like your flying or jumping out of an aeroplane :D Were making halloween cards atm so were trying to get really scary halloween pictures to put on the cards :D The 8 weeks is nearly up now though , im gonna miss photography :( But im really excited to see what the next activities are :D

opera :O

In  music we are really busy setting up our own opere with fodla :) Our story is based on jerry springer but an  irish version called paddt murphy :) We hav the presenter paddy murphy , jusinta a woman who is pregnent , damo is jusintas boyfriend who thinks she cheated on him and the babys not his  , nicko the man who jusinta cheated with the possibly the father of the baby , damos mother called denica and 2 bodyguards :) We have already picked the girls for the parts and were all realy excited :) There are different departments of the opera for people to work on :) Im in the costume group :) We have all the costumes for the characters planned out and whos bringing in what :) The other groups are the plot who created the story and the script , the music group who deide what music and sounds we should play and the set group who design and make the stage :) Were all really busy trying to organise the opera to get it done on time but im really excited :D

partay ;)

All tys have to set up a party for different times of the year :) Fodla is organising a christmas party for all transistion year students :) We are organising to bake lots of food , kareoke , santa with kris kindle presents in a big stocking for all tys , hot chocolate with cream and marshmellows and dress up :) The other ty classes eriu and bamba are organising valentines and easter partys :)

town and juno and the paycock :D

Yesturday we went to town and we visited the bog bodies , wb yeats and the national museum :) They were okay we had to do worksheets and answer questions on the museums :/ It was interesting to look around though :) After the museums we went to grafton street and we went for lunch in macdonalds :D i love the chocolate sundays , there YUM! :) Then we went to the abby theatre to see the play :) The setting was very good , it was of a tenament house :) The actors were played very well and i understood the play alot more than the book :) Its good to see a visual image of the setting also :) It was a really good day , my favourite day trip so far :)

towny :D

tomorow we are going to town to the theartre to see the play juno and the paycock :) we read the play in english class , the play was okay it got confusing at times :L we are going to visit the bog buddies and wb yeats museums :) after that we get to go into town and eat wherever we want and look around town for an hour :) im going to eat in macdonalds :D we get home late tomorow because the play is a late viewing :) im really excited for a whole day out :D

mini company trip :)

yesturday we went to a mini company trip in newbridge :) we learnt all about marketing and advertisments :L in my group were making customized ipod covers :D we went to chick king and abrakababra :D i went to the shop and caught coke and wedges :D mmmmmmmm.... ;)

bullying :/

in religion class we watched a video about a school in essex about bullying :) its about a goil who got elected head girl in school and she got cyber bullied by 2 of her friends through text :O the principle was able to get the police to track the number and they found out who it was :) the girls were shocked to find that it was so serious they could get a police record :O their mother was a teacher in the school and she was really disapointed in them :/ there was another boy called sam wh obullied a boy called dean because he was being jealous and paranoid and he thought dean was trying to steal his girlfriend :O but they all sorted it out in the end and became friends again :)

another mini company trip :L

Tomorow were going to another mini company trip and we get to go to abrakadabra or the chipper :D Im really excited to go on another ty trip :)

5 things we have to do this week :L

Tomorow is the fun walk and everyone is getting really excited :D our dance is all coming together now and other classes are starting to get clues about our dance :L Today is the last day to practice our dance so we have to get it perfect :D On wednesday we are going to another mini company workshop to work on our projects :) Everyones really starting to feel the pressure for getting their ideas together and getting jobs for everyone for the group :/ In my group im doing marketing and were designing ipod covers :) For irish i have to type up my irish project about yourself and its due next week.

fun run :D

The fun run is coming up soon on friday and everyone is getting very competitive :L all the classes are telling people cover up songs so no one knows what there really doing :L We have practiced our dance very had and i think were going to win :D We have a surprise at the end of the routine but i wont spoil the surprise yet ;) Tys have to go to every corner on the walk to direct classes across the roads to keep the walk a safe journey :) i wish everyone luck in the competition :)

especially for ms.ward :)

Ms ward teaches creative writing class :D This is my favourite class that i do in ty :) Its all about emotions and feelings and it gets you into very deep and very dark times but i think you learn alot about yourself :) you rip down the walls of emotions and you describe them in such dept where you go , yes! thats exactly the feeling! For an author to do that to someone is a great acheivment :) Its only the start though , id say by the time the years up and when all our essays are written ms ward will learn alot about us :) In our essays she wants to be able to see , smell ,taste , touch and hear our emotions :) Its a very interesting class but taken very seriously :)

carlingford and jc results :)

we came back from carlingford 2 days ago and it was so much fun :) when we came home though we were  absolutly wrecked :L we did loads of activities like rock climbing , absailing , laser gun shooting , loads of different challenges , night line , orienteering and archery :D the first day was great craic , some ppl that night got up infront of everyone and sang and there was a boys school aswel and they had a guitar :D everyone was amazing :) we also got to go out into the town that night aand get chipper , chinese and sweets :) we got put into our rooms with all our friends and had a great night :) yesturday we got our jc results and everyone did sooo well :D we all went time or mantra and had a great night :) im wrecked now though :L

social development day :)

Its the secound week of ty and i absolutly love it :D we had a social development day on tuesday and it was very fun and i learnt aloot about myself :) we played loads of games to learn more about our personalitys and we got much closer to our ty class :) we did debates that was fun and all the groups put up a great fight :L
