LAST WEEK OF TY! :O

For the next few days were just going to be setting up and practicing for TY NIGHT! :D Im soooo excited! :D and its like tradition to go to mcdonalds after to were all getting the bus to Maynooth :D On the night were doing the zumba dance and charleston dance :D Were singing the song seasons of love and were showing off all our work to our familys that weve done over the year :D Its our grad night aswel and were all getting our TY hoodies! :D I CANT WAIT! :D I am sad to be leaving TY but i cant wait for summer and i think im ready to go into 5th year :) Im so glad i did TY ill never forget it <3

road safety talk :)

Today we are finishing off our road safety talk :) We were looking at videos of car crashes and how peoples lives are affected after a crash :( We learnt the importance of not speeding and ALWAYS wearing your seatbelt :) Today were going to do a driving theory test for practice and learning about the rules and regulations of the road :)

work , work work... :/

Well our TY year is coming to a close and now we have plenty of projects to finish before the end of the year so we can get used to 5th year :(


In maths were doing a project on whatever we want to do as long as its mathematical :) Me and Ellen are doing how texting at night can effect your mathematical ability in school :O Its really interesting to us because obviously young people text all the time so if it effects how we think in school were gonig to have to cut down :O We did surveys and a maths test to 20 people so now we just have to compare our results :)


In English we read the book The Hunger Games and now were in groups of 3 and we have to take a scene from the book and have 2 actors and 1 director act it out :D its sooo much fun i love drama :D


In Irish we have been doing alot of grammer and we have an oral irish exam on friday :/ its our first time and im really nervous :O but im sure ill be fine ;) we have to talk for 6 minutes :O


In science we are preparing to go to scifest on wednesday :D Im a bit nervous but i think it will be alot of fun aswel :D


In geography we are doing a project on something we like but its with a  geographical side to it :) im doing music in difgerent countries and their main genres :)


In history were doing a big project on a person or place we want to do and im thinking of doing Jane Austen :) I picked her because i love her books and the movies are fantastic :) Im going to write about her books and talk about how she became an author and what her inspirations were :)


In creative writing were doing a new essay called a tribute essay and your writing a tribute to a person or thing that you love :)

TY retreat :)

On Tuesday we went to a Ty retreat in glendalough :) We went on the journey that St.Kevin did and Fr. Michael gave us the tour :) we went to see the old house that he used to live in and we went to see the old cathedral that St.Kevin built :) We also had time to reflect on ourselves and our lives and to notice at the nature :) it started to rain when we were meditating but it was very peaceful and relaxing :) 


One thing that Fr. Michael said that stuck with me was...
"We do not know everything about life , if you think so , you are mistaken".

EASTER! :D

Im sooooooooooo excited for easter! :D its in 2 days whhhhoooooo <3 and its so sunny out these days aswel i cannot WAIT! ;D!

Hotel Ruwanda :)

We watched a movie called Hotel Ruwanda in religion class and it was the same as Sometimes in April except different actors in the movie :L I prefered hotel Ruwanda because alot more happened in it :O In it there was a very smart man called Paul and he managed the hotel and many tutsie refugees went to his hotel because it had UN protection :) But the interhamwe invaded them and killed a few people but the UN stopped them and eventually they got trucks and rescued all the refugees and Paul and they were saved :D nearly 1 million people were killed :'(

Intel talk :L

The school had people from intel to come talk to Tys because there isnt enough people doing engineering and computer science in colleges so they are trying to recruit more people to get interested in it for the future and give more people more information about it :) I didnt really understand it because im not intrested in them jobs at all but some girls are defonitley interested in it :) They brought in some models of chips that take a month to make and there are over 100 steps in the process :O

road safety :O

We had a talk in our school all about road safety :O Two gardas from naas garda station came into to tell us all about it :) They showed us videos of people who fell asleep at the wheel , people drink driving , people on the phone and people not wearing seatbelts :O A woman made a documentary of when her 17 year old daughter got into a car without wearing a seatbelt and she was threw out of the car and killed :'( We were showed another video of a taxi driver in new york and he fell asleep at the wheel and he was thrown around the car and then his head got stuck on the floor in the back seat and the car crushed his head when it crashed :( We were also shown pictures of when cars crash on motor ways and there was a truck , an oil lorry , a car and then a tesco lorry and the truck crashed into the oil lorry and it went like dominos and the car slid under the tesco lorry and the lad in the car wasnt wearing his seatbelt properly and the seatbelt split his body in two :/ And they were unable to get the body out of the car because there was so much damage done :O The last picture we seen was of a motorbike and the lad was known as a boy racer but there was a girl on the bike to and they didnt know who she was so when they had to the family they seen a picture of her on the tv and they realised it was their 16 your old daughter aswel :( So they had to tell the family their son and daughter was killed :'( They told us about when they have to go to peoples houses and tell them the bad news :( And sometimes they just fall to the floor or get sick and sometimes they even call them liars and its not true :/ Some people say the talk put them off driving for life and everyone in school is real cautious now but afterwards it didnt really effect me at all :L

sometimes in april :)

On Monday we watched a movie called sometimes in April :) It was about all the troubles that were happening in Ruwanda in 1994 :/ The Hutus turned against the tutsies because they killed their preseident , so the hutus turned against them and tryed ti kill every tutsie they could :( Even people that were just related to one were killed including children :( Nearly 1 million people werwe killed :/ They were shot and beaten and only a few people escaped :( The UN helped many people to escape but they couldnt shoot anyone for protection :/ The key scene for me was when girls in a catholic school and soldiers came barging in and they were going to shoot all the tutsies but the girls would not seperate , they were going to stand together as sisters and the soldiers just shoot them all :/ There were 3 survivors but 1 of the girls died along the way :/ 10 years later the survivors stood up in court and explained what exactly happened. the woman were used as inappropriate slaves for men :/ Eventualy ruwanda got back to normal :)

BRAVE FORCE ASSAULT COURSE :D

Yesturday we went to meath to braveforce assault course :D It was like a load of obstacles and challenges you had to do and it was a race againt another 2 schools :D We went through water up to our chest and climbing up ropes , crawling in mud under nets , jumping over bails , climbing up big fortresses and sliding down nets , walking through rivers , climbing on ropes over water , jumping over cut down trees , rolling down nets etc :L IT WAS SOOOOO MUCH FUN :D it was freezing though :L I have never been so mucky in my life :L I would defonitley do it again and i recomend it to everyone! :D Some people were so mucky they had to get hosed down afterwards :L I dont remember what place i came in the race , i didnt really care cos i had so much fun! :D

creative writing workshop :)

Debbie Thomas is a childrens book writer and she came in to talk to us about creative writing :D She gave each of us a picture and we had to imagine and describe about their lives and what they ate for breakfast and what happens in their lives :L Then we had to read out what we said to the hole class :/ It was really fun to make up our own story about a character though :)

par rum pa pum pum... :D

Last week we had a musical workshop with lots of insturments but mainly drums made in africa called jembe :D the top of the drum is made from animal skin :/ Jembe is a hand drum and depending on where you hit it , the drum makes different sounds :D It was a very long day , but it was worth it :) We learnt lots of rythems and we all got to try out very strange insturments eg, bells , shakers etc :)

work experience , again... :/

For work experience i went to the newspaper the Liffey Champion in Leixlip :) I was sooooo nervous on the first day because i didnt know anybody and i didnt know what id be doing :( All i did for the hole week was type up press releases like a receptionist :( I was also promised i could go on trips with the reporters and photographers but they never mentioned it to me again so i didnt :( I also rang people to find out more information about the press releases :O My lunch was from 1 to 2 for an hour and there were no cafes in leixlip so i had to walk around the town by myself for an hour :L I started at 10 and ended at 5 :) It was okay , i expected it to be better than it was so i was a little disapointed :(

LOLLIPOP DAY! :D

We went into town on lollipop day to sell lollipops and badges in aid of osephocial cancer :) We got buckets and balloons and lollipops and badges in the powers court :) Then we were in groups of three or four and we set out in different destinations in dublin and sold lollipops :D We went around shouting LOLLIPOP DAY, SUPPORT FUNDS FOR OSEPHOCIAL CANCER! :D It felt really good to know we would be helping out a good cause and alot of people donated money :) For lunch we went to macdonalds and shake away and i got an oreo milkshake :D It was probably one of the funnest days in Ty so far :D

mini company competition :/

2 weeks ago we had our mini company competition and we had to set up our stand for mod pod :O We were so nervous :/ We made a bid mod pod banner and a poster with pictures and explaining what our product is :) We had a red cloth and balloons on our stand :D We gor Mr.W to make us a proto type of our ipod cover and it really made our presentation come together :D Then we got called up to present our product infront of Orla and another judge :/ We each said our part and i got asked a really hard question :/ I didnt know what the answer was so i messed it up but i tried to come up with a decent answer :L But i tryed :) Then we listened to everyone elses presentations and the group illuminate were called to the final :)

mini company :/

Orla came to our school to check up on how we were doing in mini company :) She gave us ideas and alot of advice for our company :) Everyone discused what their product was and some even had prototypes to show orla :) Were still having problems in our company trying to get a supplier but if we are unable to get a supplier then we are just going to put forward it as an idea :) We have the competition in 2 weeks and we have to make a presentation of a product and answer any questions the judges might have :)

back to work... :/

In geography were doing an information brochure of a disease when you go to a different country that has information all about it and the vaccinations and the causes :) Im doing the country south africa and the disease malaria :O I thought id do malaria because i dont know a lot about it and its one of the mail diseases in south africa :O

In history were doing all about human rights and we got into groups and did a project ona camp called guantanama bay :/ Its a camp that is holding innocent people prisoners and punishing them :/ There punishing methods are their faces burned with cigerettes , shards of glass thrown at them , electricuted , hanged , etc... :(

In irish weve started to do a drama called padrician is ainm dom :D Its about a girl that becomes friends with a drug dealer and he gets her into drugs and at the end she dies from a drug overdose :O But its a very funny drama at the start :L We have to perform it in front of all ty :O

In english were doing film studies and we just finished watching a movie called 12 angry men :) It was such a good movie :O It was all based in one room and it was about a boy who was accused of murdering his father and he is on trial in court. The dury go into a room and they discuss whether he is guilty or not guilty and they discuss all of the evidence :)

In maths we have started a new project on statistics and we all have to find our measurments eg our height etc... we will be going to the computer rooms and doing up a survey and its worth 30% of our summer exams :O

In religion were doing a project all on st. brigids day :) Im writing all about important historical places in kildare eg the K club , Fr Moores well and St Brigids well :)

In science everyone is presenting their young scientist projects to the hole TY year :D It was very interesting to see other peoples projects to find out their ideas and what they come up with for daily questions or problems :)

concrete angel :'(

We went to mullingar yesturday and we went see see the dramas that bamba and eriú made up :D they were all really sad dramas but my favourite was concrete angel :D Its based on a song called cocrete angel called martina mcbride :) Its about a girl who was abused by her mother and she passed away :( I cried when i first heard the song :L The play started with a flash from the future of the girls neighbours reading the newspaper article about their neighbour who killed their daughter. then it flashed back and the girl was sitting at the table , eating breakfast with her father. it showed her father cared about her very much , he was a very loving father :) Then he noticed some bruises on her arm and the girl said i just fell , i fall alot. but her father didnt beleive her. he set up a meeting with her teacher to find out if she was being bullied at school. but the teacher said she noticed the bruises and she said they wernt the kind of bruises you got from a fall :/ The teacher asked was there anyhting going on at home and the dad got very angry. he stormed out of the room. but at home the girls mother was drinking and she pushed her daughter onto the ground and slapped her. then her father came home and called her name , but she could not answer. her mother had just bottled her and she was killed :'( Her father came running upstairs and found her dead and screamed at his wife "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" Then a new scene started and it was the little girls funeral. She was 8 years old :/ Her dad gave a big speech on his daughters life and how much he loved her <3 The song concrete angel played quietly in the background. Many girls in my class started crying :L It was a very well acted drama but very sad :(

drama :D

On tuesday were going to see 2 dramas that our other ty classes bamba and eriú have made :D I cant wait to see what they came up with :D Unfortunatly we didnt get to enter a competition for a play , but we are doing a play during class time for fun :) The play were doing is called kill the queen :) We didnt make it up :L Its about 3 boys and 3 girls who are against the queen and who want to destroy the monument for the queen :L Its a hilarious drama and i cant wait to do it :D

decisions , decisions , decisions...

We are in the middle of trying to decide what subjects were going to take for leaving cert :/ Im thinking of doing biology , art and early modern history :D I really like these subjects and im quite good at them :) I did well in my exams :) I wanted to do late modern history though but but because of cut backs its not available to do next year which is really disapointing :( But hopefully early modern history will be just as good :D Im excited and nervous to go into 5th year :O There will be alot of work but im excited to get back into work again :)

guitar :D

Im music were doing a different module and were learning how to play guitars :D We just learned the basic cords but its really good :D Your fingers are really sore after it though :L I might start lessons in guitar cause i really like it and ive learned the basics so far :D

young scientist :)

We went to the bt young scientist competition in the rds on friday :D It was soooo much fun :D We spent the hole day their and the projects were very interesting :) My favourite was a car the turned 360 degrees to sgoew people what it would be like if you were in a crash :O Your head was very sore after but it was really fun :D We also went into a small stadium where robots were created and they would fight against each other and the crowd voted who won :) The louder the crowd screamed , the more the robots fought :L The robots also squirt water into the crowd and i got soaked :L The food there was really nice though , they made doughnuts and crepes and pancakes :D They were yummy :D

band and song writing :)

This is one of my favourite activities :D Were going to be getting into groups and someone will play the guitar , another the piano , a main singer and background singers :) Ms O'R is giving us songs and we have to perform them :O We also played a game where Ms O'R would say a sentence from a song and wed have to sing back the lyrics and what song it was :) It was sooo much fun :D

ZUMBA! :D

Zumba is my favourite activity so far :D The dancing involves a lot of hip movement and its a very good work out :D My legs were so sore the next day :L Its soooo much fun though and its hilarious :L

massaging :)

In massaging we gave head massages :D You scrap your fingers through someones hair like your combing their hair and then you move your fingers in circular movements :L Then we did another one and you place your hands on the top of each ear and you keep them their and the energy is going back and forth , if you get a tingling in your hands that means the energy is going back and forth :)

NEW ACTIVITIES :D

Today were starting new activities :) Massaging , Band and song writing and Zumba dancing :D I havnt done any of these before so im sooooo excited :D I dont know exactly what were doing in them yet so ill post again on what their about :)

back in school :( and young scientist :D

Were just back in school this week and im wreckes :Z I cant wait for the weekend :D But tomorow were going to the bt young scientist exibition in the RDS :D I didnt get in but  my friend sarah did and shes very excited but nervous :O Many other schools are going and we get to look at all the projects aswel :D We went before in secound year and it was so much fun :D We got alot of free stuff :L
